The PHRG remembers the significant contribution of Ann Clwyd in her role as PHRG Chair between 1997 and 2019.

Ann was dedicated to increasing awareness, in Parliament and more widely, of serious and systematic human rights violations, with a special interest in the situations in Iraq, Cambodia and East Timor.

She also raised concerns, on behalf of the PHRG, with a wide range of Ministers and officials in successive Governments and in many countries, and  kept in close contact with Human Rights Defenders, and representatives of NGOs, international governmental organisations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, whose Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians she chaired.
